Directed accounts - another way to serve students
One way the foundation serves Anoka-Hennepin students is by partnering with organized, staff-led district groups that support our students and schools. Referred to as directed accounts, each of these are lead by district staff and go beyond direct curricular support, primarily to address student basic needs.
The majority is building-based and provides food, hygiene items or other urgent needs such as clothing, utility bill assistance and/or housing assistance (crisis or caring and sharing funds) to Anoka-Hennepin students and their families.
The foundation has a "memorandum of understanding" with each of these directed accounts that establishes how donors will be engaged and thanked, how resources will be distributed and ensures charitable intent consistent with the foundation’s mission.
In addition to serving as a fiscal agent for these directed accounts, the foundation works with the district to secure external support to meet these needs with the understanding that if their basic human needs are not met, a student’s ability to learn is negatively impacted.
